From dazzling light festivals to entertaining theatre shows and special events at the city's award-winning attractions, there’s lots of brilliant family-friendly fun to choose from this February half term.
Free events and activities
Bristol’s big free event to kickstart half term, Bristol Light Festival returns from 2 - 11 February and will showcase showstopping, iconic art installations across the city.
GLOW returns to Weston-super-Mare across five nights (13 - 17 February) with magical light installations and artworks in Grove Park. Tickets are Pay What You Decide, and there will be additional must-see artworks and installations at key locations across the town, from The Grand Pier to the Italian Gardens.
Learn more about fossils and one of the most important women in palaeontology in the Making Waves exhibition at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. Make sure to book a ticket for a theatrical lecture from palaeontologist Anne-Marie for the young palaeontologists of today. Both the exhibition and lecture are free but donations are welcome.
Family-friendly days out
Head outside and explore the Zoo Detectives trail at Bristol Zoo Project to see if you can work out which mystery animal has been passing through. Spot giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, lemurs and gelada baboons on your way around the site.
Find out about the specimens that were transported on board Brunel's SS Great Britain in the Plants Crossing Continents Exhibition and join a flower crafting workshop, or learn how creatures have adapted to survive on islands across the world at Bristol Aquarium.

See smash hit West End musical Wicked at Bristol Hippodrome, listen to a story of unexpected friendship at The Farmer and The Clown at Bristol Old Vic, or join in with activities during their Funnily Family Day.
Watch family classic The Gruffalo at Redgrave Theatre, enjoy a mix of poems, raps and songs about dinosaurs at the Great Big Dinosaur Show at The Wardrobe Theatre on Old Market, or follow an adventure with a nocturnal creature in Midnight Mole at Tobacco Factory Theatres.

Outdoor family fun near Bristol
Enjoy a spectacular fireworks display in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 17 February, with the best views from The Grand Pier.
